Starting a business

Recent research has shown that one in 10 Mums aspire to having their own business, with one in five looking to have more flexibility on choosing the hours they work. Nearly 15% of women have already started their own businesses since having children, proving that Mumpreneurs are a growing force in the UK economy.
Running your own business gives you the flexibility you need to fit in with your family commitments, but it is not a free ride. Yes you might be able to set up working from home, and you are in control of your own destiny, but it is also your responsibility to make the business work and grow and that, coupled with the responsibilities of running a home and organising a family, can be a difficult juggling act. It is especially difficult if you have a passion for making your business work to switch off at times when you shouldn't be working.
That said, if you can get the balance right, running a home business in particular is an ideal solution for all us parent's who are looking for that elusive work life balance. Here at Flexible Skills Bank we are passionate not only about helping Mums find that work life balance but also about helping and supporting small and growing businesses. The majority of our employers are small businesses themselves and Flexible Skills Bank is of course a home business too, so we understand the challenges and aim to provide all the support and advice we can to help you in your efforts.
